Illustrative Scattergrams

Internal Relationships

WMS and Company, Inc. prepares charts which plot each employee's current salary and grade midpoint against the job size for the position he/she occupies.  It is here that the importance of the geometric numbering pattern inherent with Equi-Comp® becomes readily apparent.  The extent to which good internal equity exists within pay practices will be visually observable and statistically described.  The following chart is illustrative of this type of analysis.  The red line shown is a regression line, which best describes the pattern of the plotting points.

The pattern sought is one in which only a limited number of plot points fall far from the line.  Additionally, the line should slope upward so that as job size increases, pay levels increase.

Charts for each department and/or functional area are prepared.

External Comparisons

Marketplace data is displayed on charts showing median and quartile pay practices in each of the identified markets.  Superimposed on these charts will be an organization's pay practices.  The chart following illustrates the type of analyses WMS and Company, Inc. presents.
